 Elkhorn
Federal Credit Union f/k/a Fort Harrison VAF Federal Credit Union was established as an
organization by the National Credit Union
Association (NCUA) on July 8, 1935.
Our Charter Number is 495.
On April 5, 2001, the NCUA approved our
name change from Fort Harrison VAF FCU to
Elkhorn FCU. On
May 12, 1999, Elkhorn FCU acquired by way of
merger a smaller credit union located in Helena,
Montana called “Montana Employment Security
FCU.” The
date of this merger was effective May 12, 1999.
Upon Elkhorn FCU’s application in June
2001, the NCUA approved our community charter on
November 16, 2001. Elkhorn
Federal Credit Union can now serve any resident
of the following counties:
Lewis and Clark, Jefferson, Powell.
The
MISSION STATEMENT of the Credit Union is
“to maximize the quality and value of current
services while striving for new and more
convenient ways to meet the future needs of the
membership.
The Credit Union will strive to offer the
best rates for both savings and loans with the
welfare and the soundness of the Credit Union
always of utmost importance.”
Elkhorn
Federal Credit Union is a non-profit cooperative
financial institution owned by the membership to
benefit and serve the membership.
In order to be a member of the Credit
Union the following charter applies to the
membership as of November 16, 2001:
Any
resident who resides, works, worships, or the
like in the following counties of the State of
Montana:

Lewis
and Clark
-
Jefferson
-
Powell
Once
a person has become a member of the Credit
Union, they are eligible for all the services
offered at the Credit Union, with all the rights
and privileges, even though employment or family
status may change. A minimum of one share ($5.00) must be
held in account to obtain these rights. Additionally, we maintain the policy “once
a member, always a member.”
